Mediation & ADR Services

Mediation Services

Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), a way of resolving disputes between two or more parties with concrete effects without the need for a costly and uncertain trial in court.

At Curtis Law Office, we believe many cases can be effectively and efficiently resolved through mediation.   Attorney Ron Curtis provides mediation services to individuals and businesses.  For over 25 years, Ron Curtis has served as Mediation/Arbitration Counsel, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in disputed civil matters.  This affords Ron a unique perspective and skill set to provide neutral third party mediation services.

Mediation service rates are as follows:

• $250/per hour.

• Mediation fee is split between parties.

•  Ron is available to travel to conduct your mediation. There is no travel time billed inside Milwaukee, Waukesha or Ozaukee Counties.  However, extensive travel time is billed at one-half of the hourly mediation rate.

Mediation Facilities:

Curtis Law Office is conveniently located at 812 East State Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the Historic Yankee Hill and East Town Neighborhoods.   Our office is within walking distance of downtown but also has very convenient street parking. Our offices serve as a neutral site for effective mediation and settlement procedures.   Each conference room is designed for privacy, comfort and sufficient workspace. Telephones, Fax, and Wi-Fi are available for use at no charge.

The Benefits of Mediation/Arbitration Include:

• Cost– the mediation process generally takes much less time than moving a case through standard legal channels.

• Support—Mediators such as Ron are trained in working with difficult situations. The mediator acts as a neutral facilitator and guides the parties through the process. The mediator helps the parties think “outside of the box” for different avenues to resolve the dispute, broadening the range of possible solutions.

• Confidentiality—While court hearings are public, the discussions and negotiations at mediation remain strictly confidential. No one but the parties to the dispute, their counsel, and the mediator know what happened.

• Control—Mediation increases the control the parties have over the resolution of their dispute. In a court case, the parties obtain a resolution, but control resides with the judge or jury.

• Compliance—Because the result is attained by the parties working together and is mutually agreeable, compliance with the mediated agreement is always high. This further reduces costs, because the parties do not have to spend additional time and money to force compliance with the agreement. The mediated agreement is, however, fully enforceable in a court of law.
